There are two types of – external and internal hemroids. Thrombosed hemroids is basically a complication of the external kind and it happens when there is a blood clot on the inside of the anus – it is also referred to as a thrombus. The clots happen just inside the skin in the veins that are in the rectum. Normally the symptoms of the disease include pain, and blood, but with thrombosed hemroids, the pain becomes extremely severe, so much so that many doctors and patients prefer to surgically remove them rather than seeking a medication to cure thrombosed hemroids in time.

Another typical feature of thrombosed hemroids is its color – these hemroids look blue and that is accounted to the vein strangulation that happens below the skin. But it can also turn into red, and this happens when the hemroids become irritated and thus inflamed. Size of the blood clot of thrombosed hemroids can vary from one person to another and usually when the size is bigger, the pain also will be more intense, particularly while passing stool, and even when sitting and walking.

External hemroids are visible to the naked eye, and thrombosed hemroids are also no exception. Though it might be difficult to identify for the untrained eye of the patient, but a doctor can do it easily, and also by physically examining the location of the pain. This is referred to as a rectal exam. It usually starts as a small bulge in the anus region that is hard to the touch. But it can also be soft and not hard at all. The veins are skin covered and look blue. And when the area swells it looks red in color. But all this might be difficult for the sufferer – to him usually it is the pain that is the first symptom of hemroids. Though hemroid treatment is available, many prefer surgery to get relief from the pain. There are many surgery options to select from, and the decision is mainly taken by the doctor. Clot Removal: This is a relatively simpler surgery that is carried out on external hemroids and it does not even take long to carry this out. No hospitalization is also needed. Application of an anesthetic would take away the feeling from the patient and then the doctor will just cut the thrombosed hemroids away to give relief.

However infrared surgery is only possible when the thrombosed hemroids is relatively smaller in size. Though surgery is always an option, but it is not the only one as sometimes it can lead to complications, and that is why there are many who want to avoid it.
